South Valley Chamber Names Jay Francis as President & CEO

SANDY, Utah (August 3, 2020) – The South Valley Chamber has named Jay Francis as its new president and CEO, replacing Greg Summerhays, who has led the Chamber for the last four years. Summerhays has announced he will be leaving the Chamber to pursue a career in real estate with Chapman Richards & Associates. Francis will assume his new position in early September.

“It has been one of the greatest pleasures of my career to serve as the president and CEO of the South Valley Chamber,” said Summerhays. “Over the past four years, our Board of Directors and chamber team have created a strong regional chamber of commerce providing great value and resources to our membership.”

“Jay Francis is a perfect leader to continue the work we have achieved over the past four years. He will take the Chamber to new heights and continue to strengthen the business community in the South Valley.”

Jay Francis retired from the Larry H. Miller Group in May after 35 years with the organization. He has been actively involved with the South Valley Chamber for 12 years, serving as a member of the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee, and as past board chair.

“Jay is a proven leader. He has been involved in helping grow and shape our business community through his tremendous work with the Larry H. Miller Group, as well as his service on countless non-profit boards and committees,” said South Valley Chamber Board Chairman Rob Brough, executive vice president of marketing and communications at Zions Bank. “I feel confident that Jay is the right person to lead the South Valley Chamber at this critical time, and I know his expertise will help bring continued growth and prosperity to the business community in the south valley.”

“It has been my pleasure to serve with the Sandy Chamber and now the South Valley Chamber for nearly 12 years”, said Francis. “I had the opportunity to be the chairman of the board for several years, including when we hired Greg just over four years ago. Following Greg’s energy and passion will be a pleasure and I look forward to continuing to build on the momentum that has been built.”

“Under Greg’s leadership the chamber has blossomed and become a valuable asset to the cities and businesses in the south part of the Salt Lake Valley. We are now the South Valley Chamber, and under Greg’s direction the chamber has established the KeyBank Business Accelerator Academy and the Business Institute through which small businesses get help and skills to help them grow and succeed. Greg and his team also established the Executive Forum, which has been very successful in providing thought provoking and learning opportunities for business CEO’s all across the valley.”
