Momentum Indoor Climbing gym in Sandy, UT is a world-class indoor climbing facility. “If you’ve ever climbed before, you know what that experience is like,” says Devin Ashby, a rock climber and General Manager of Momentum. “We are more than just [a] climbing [gym],” says Ashby. Fitness and training are what Momentum does best and they’ve even added yoga into the mix. This makes Momentum one of the best places to help anyone and everyone to stay physically fit.

“We make it inclusive for everyone – brand new or never been before, up to professionals training for the Olympics,” says Ashby. The year 2020 will be the first time that rock climbing will be considered an Olympic sport – bouldering (short walls with a crash pad below), speed climbing, and traditional climb are three areas that one could compete. So who knows, you may even find yourself competing for the Olympics after giving Momentum a try.

“Climbing is for everyone,” says Ashby. Momentum makes it a point to invite anyone to come to try out climbing. It’s an opportunity unlike any other to get this kind of training and expertise from the Sandy staff. Everyone is on board and willing to give you pointers to improve your climb. “We build facilities that give you that experience. It is an active sport and requires emotional health and physical health, mentally stimulating as well as physically. It is an excellent way to stay physically fit,” says Ashby.

With more than 20,000 feet of climbing terrain, you have plenty of room to move around. Month to month memberships make it easy for beginners to give climbing a try, and if it’s not for you, then at least you leave the gym with a taste of what climbing is like.

When asked how the summer months impact an indoor activity, Ashby explained that users can put their pass on hold or freeze their membership at any time. But despite the sun being out, membership remains the same. When Utah becomes cold or rainy, consistent climbers need a place to go and Momentum is the place for anyone to do just that.

Whether you’re looking for a new hobby in outdoor recreation, or if you’re just looking for a fun activity, climbing is something different to do. The staff and members at Momentum want to extend the invitation to come to try it out. Ashby tells us that climbing is a very personal sport and you can push yourself as an athlete because the learning curve for climbing isn’t the same as various activities.

Momentum Indoor Climbing has three locations in Utah – Sandy, Lehi, and Millcreek. They also have three other locations in Katy, TX; Silver Street, TX; and Sodo, WA.
